Whatnots – book stands

This piece of furniture was widespread in the second half of the eighteenth century France.It was composed of a number of steps, often richly ornamented by various carvings.Such whatnots were often made of exotic wood sorts, especially at the French King Louis XVI era.Already in the nineteenth century whatnot became popular in Victorian England.This piece of furniture is multifunctional, it is good not only for books - ancient whatnot is great for having on it ancient figurines or sculptures, some antique dishes, as well as a small flower pot or just pictures of your dear people...
